Derek Loewy, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist and board certified sleep medicine specialist. Dr. Loewy received his doctorate at the University of Ottawa, Canada in 1996. He completed a sleep research fellowship at the University of Arizona in 1999 and his sleep medicine fellowship at Stanford University in 2001, where he co-founded the Insomnia Program at the Stanford Sleep Disorders Center. He is currently Director of the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Program at Scripps Clinic Sleep Center in La Jolla, CA. Dr. Loewy’s specialties include cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBTI) and bright light therapy in the treatment of circadian rhythm sleep disorders.
